Inclusion Criteria

) Patients ASA (American society of anesthesia) 1-3 physical status

2)Age 18-80 year of either sex

3)Patients undergoing major abdominal surgery

Exclusion Criteria

) Patients refusal

2) Infection at site of epidural needle insertion

3) Coagulopathy or bleeding disorder

4) Increased intracranial pressure

5) Allergy to local anesthetics

6) Pregnancy

7) Severe hypotension, hypovolemia

8) History of known allergy to drugs used in the study

9) Any other relative contraindication of epidural anesthesia

10) Blockage or intrathecal migration of epidural catheter during intraoperative or postoperative period.
