简要总结
Childhood obesity has emerged as a significant public health challenge in developing countries like India, largely due to sedentary lifestyles, increased screen time, and unhealthy eating habits. These changes have contributed to decreased physical activity, poor physical fitness, and delayed gross motor skill development in children. Motor performance which includes coordination, balance, strength, and agility is crucial for daily functioning and long-term health. Plyometric training, involving high-intensity, rapid movements that utilize the stretch-shortening cycle, has shown promise in enhancing neuromuscular efficiency and motor skills in youth. Incorporating such dynamic exercises may offer a novel approach to improving physical function in overweight children. The study aims to assess the effects of an 8-week plyometric training program on motor performance in overweight children and to assess the effects of an 8-week plyometric training program on physical fitness in overweight children and to compare the motor performance and physical fitness between the experimental (plyometric training) and conventional groups to determine the effectiveness of the training program.
A pre- and post-test quasi-experimental study was conducted to compare the effects of plyometric exercises and conventional exercises on selected outcome measures in school children.
Group A: Plyometric Exercise
Group B: Conventional Exercise
Each participant underwent a structured intervention program under professional supervision.
Outcome measures which includes motor performance, physical fitness and BMI were recorded before and after the intervention to assess changes.
