This study is to assess the prevalence of metabolic syndrome among young adults (students and clerical staff of AIIMS, New Delhi) from age group of 18 -25 years to develop preventive metabolic syndrome pamphlet and also to assess the association of metabolic syndrome with selected variables. India is experiencing arapid health transition with a rising of non-Communicable disease surpassingthe burden of communicable diseases like water-borne or vector-borne diseases,TB, HIV, etc. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of NCDand presence of one or more components of Metabolic syndrome can increase therisk factors.With the advancement in economic and thedeveloping changes in lifestyles and dietary habits, the prevalence in metabolicsyndrome is increasing rapidly. Prevalence is seen in the older age group andmore studies have found that there is increased prevalence in the older agegroup which has increased the burden of non-communicable disease on global aswell as at the national level. Fewer studies are done to assess the prevalenceamong the young adults.
Diagnosis at an early age can reduce the chances ofdeveloping the risk factors as well as halting the disease progression therebyreducing the burden of non-communicable disease. Always prevention is betterthan cure, so early life styles change with modification and effectiveeducation can help individual in reducing the risk factors of developingMetabolic syndrome.

- having any physical disability hindering their physical activities with locomotor disability.
