简要总结
Cricket bowling is a complex motor skill that demands high levels of strength, core endurance, mobility, and coordination. Fast bowlers, in particular, face repetitive stress on the spine and shoulder, predisposing them to injuries. Core stability is vital for energy transfer during the bowling action, while shoulder and grip strength support speed and injury prevention. The Turkish Get-Up (TGU), a functional, multi-planar, full-body exercise, integrates strength, mobility, and neuromuscular control, with proven benefits for core and shoulder stability. However, limited evidence exists regarding its impact on cricket performance, especially bowling speed. This highlights the need for research assessing TGU’s role in improving physiological parameters crucial to bowlers.
Aim:
To study the effect of a six-week Turkish Get-Up exercise program on core muscle endurance, upper extremity strength, and bowling speed in cricket bowlers.
Objectives:
-
To assess pre- and post-intervention changes in core endurance using the McGill’s core endurance test in Cricket bowlers.
-
To measure upper extremity strength, including rotator cuff, scapular stabilizers, and grip strength, using a handheld dynamometer in Cricket bowlers.
-
To evaluate changes in bowling speed using a radar gun in Cricket bowlers.
Materials and Methodology:
This interventional study will be conducted for six weeks. Twenty-eight male club-level cricket bowlers aged 18–35 years will be recruited. . After baseline assessment, participants will undergo a six-week TGU program, performed thrice weekly under supervision. The intervention emphasizes progressive load and correct technique. Outcome measures—core endurance, upper limb strength, and bowling speed—will be recorded before and after training. Data will be statistically analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the program in 6 weeks.
