Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. The patient diagnosed with first\-episode schizophrenia within two years of illness onset (World Health Organization, 1993\) (Breitborde, Srihari, Woods, \& Haven, 2015\)
  • 2\.The means score of psychotic symptoms assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) for schizophrenia Thai version (PANSS\-T) between 1\.00\-3\.00 points. (Olivares, Sermon, Hemels, \& Schreiner, 2013\)
  • 3\.No history of brain disease or cognitive impairment, psychiatric comorbidity, and physical complication.
  • Inclusion criteria for the caregiver
  • 1\.The person who is a family member such as a parent, spouse, or child and provide continuing care to patients for more than 6 months without receiving a wage for care.
  • 2\.Good communication and co\-operate in the research.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Exclusion Criteria for the patients
  • 1\. Presentation of relapse or re\-hospitalization, the total means scored of psychotic symptoms assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) for schizophrenia Thai version (PANSS\-T) more than 4\.00 points. (Olivares, Sermon, Hemels, \& Schreiner, 2013\)
  • 2\. The patient received Electrical Convulsive Therapy (ECT).
  • Exclusion Criteria for the caregiver
  • 1\. The patients were excluded from the research.
  • 2\. Unable to participate in any activities of the research.
