Inclusion Criteria
Age over 18 years
- A major visceral surgery (esophagectomy, gastrectomy, pancreatic resection, major liver resection, colon resection, rectal resection) was performed
Exclusion Criteria
- Preoperatively known severe liver dysfunction with expected insufficient CRP synthesis
- Preoperatively known haematological disease with leukocytes in the blood <1,000 cells / µl or> 20,000 cells / µl
