Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •first CVA (cerebral vascular accident), subacute phase (\>\= 2 weeks post stroke; \<\=3 month poststroke) \- patient was walking independently prior to the CVA
- •\- Functional Ambulation Categories (FAC) of 1 or 2
- •\- Patient is able to sit independently
- •\- there are no weight bearing restriction of the lower extremities (standing and gait)
Exclusion Criteria
- •\- severe neglect (e.g.Catherine Bergego Scale CBS \>10\) \- demonstrating pusher behavior (e.g.Scale for Contraversive Pushing SCP \>\=2\.5\) \- restriction in weight bearing on lower extremities \- walking with an assistive device or less than 1km prior to CVA
- •\- severe visual impairment \- severe aphasia (patient must be able to follow instructions)
- •\- additional neurological conditions
