Inclusion Criteria

American Society of Anaesthesiologists Physical Status (ASA-PS) I and II

General anesthesia with endotracheal tube

Duration of surgery greater than 1 hour and less than 3 hours duration.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with a recent history of sore throat or upper respiratory tract infection

Difficult airway

Smokers

Pregnant patients

Patients with allergy to either zinc or benzocaiaine

Primary Outcome Measures

Incidence of post operative sore throat within first 24 hours after extubation. <br/ ><br> The severity of Post operative sore throat will be graded on a 4-point scale ranging from 0 to 3; <br/ ><br>0 being no sore throat, <br/ ><br>1being mild discomfort (complaints only upon questioning), <br/ ><br>2being moderate sore throat (complains of his/her own), and <br/ ><br>3being severe sore throat (change in voice, hoarseness and throat pain). <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>Timepoint: Incidence of post operative sore throat within first 24 hours after extubation. <br/ ><br> The severity of Post operative sore throat will be graded on a 4-point scale ranging from 0 to 3; <br/ ><br>0 being no sore throat, <br/ ><br>1being mild discomfort (complaints only upon questioning), <br/ ><br>2being moderate sore throat (complains of his/her own), and <br/ ><br>3being severe sore throat (change in voice, hoarseness and throat pain). <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>
