Inclusion Criteria

We will include patients with an apallic syndrome (unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, UWS, persistent vegetative state, PVS), as well as patients in a minimally conscious state (MCS).

Exclusion Criteria

The only exclusion criterion are strong vegetative reactions (dysautonomy) and/or motor agitation due to the study protocol, which renders data collection impossible or insensible. The decision regarding the exclusion of a patient is up to the local medical study leader. The local medical study leaders assign the suitable patients to the study following an extensive evaluation of their clinical state, e.g. regarding infections. Information regarding the medication will be collected, but is not defined as an exclusion criterion.
