Effectiveness of IMB-based Health Education Module in Reducing Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Among Adolescents in Boarding Schools Ministry of Education, in Negeri Sembilan State, Malaysia

Conditions
This study will be conducted among pre-screened students using DASS-21 questionnaire. Student who scored abnormal DASS-21 (mild to moderate depression, and/or anxiety, and/or stress) will be invited to participate in the study.Students with DASS-21 score of severe to extremely depression, and/or anxiety, and/or stress will be excluded from the study. They need to be referred to the health care professional.

Brief Summary

The depression score of the a participant in the intervention group was 2.4 point lower than participant in the control group (p equal to 0.002). The anxiety score of a participant in the intervention group was 2.8 point lower the control group (p equal to 0.005). The stress score of a participant in the intervention group was 1.3 point lower than control group (p equal to 0.015).

Inclusion Criteria

1. 13 to 17 year old (form 1 to form 5) students
2. able to understand Malay or English Language
3. consented by parents or guardian
4. students who have been screened using DASS-21 with abnormal score of mild to moderate depression, and/or anxiety, and/or stress

Exclusion Criteria

1. participation not allowed by the school principal for specific reason
2. student who have been screened using DASS-21 with score severe to extremely depression, and/or anxiety, and/or stress
3. student under psychiatric follow-up
