Children in the age group of 1-10 years attending the Pediatric O.P.D. of J.N. Med. College, A.M.U. will be screened for eligibility for inclusion in the study.
1)Refusal of parental consent
2)Features of nutritional rickets or serum vitamin D levels <10ng/ml.
3)History of repeated fractures
4)Chronic medical disorders e.g., chronic diarrhea, chronic liver disease, chronic renal disease
5)Vitamin D / mineral supplements ( including herbal drugs ) within 8 wks
6)Blood transfusion within 3 months
7)Malignancy
8)Obesity
9)Children on anticonvulsant medications, glucocorticoids, antifungals such as ketoconazole, and medications for AIDS
