To find the role of lung inflating maneuver on post operative blood oxygen levels in patients undergoing open upper abdominal surgeries

Patients in age group 18-60 years undergoing upper abdominal non-laparoscopic surgery more than 3 hours in duration.
-Patients having >97% oxygen saturation on room air.
-Body mass index < 30.
-ASA class I & II.
- Type of surgery eg. Pancreaticoduodenectomy, total gastrectomy , Lateral pancreaticojejunostomy , Hepaticojejunostomy , Splenectomy , Liver hydatid cyst removal.
-patients with history of cardiac and lung disease
-haemoglobin <10g/dl
-Intra-0perative blood loss >20% blood volume
-emergency surgery
-history of smoking
-failure to extubate at conclusion of surgery
