(1) Stable COPD patients, absence of other obstructive disease (eg, asthma, bronchiectasis); (3) lack of recent cardiac or neuromuscular pathologies; and (4) a fall in the last 5 years or a recent near-fall. Individuals who smoked and those who had a significant response to bronchodilators, defined as an increase > 12% in forced expiratory volume in 1 second .
