简要总结

Balance and agility are essential components of physical fitness that contribute significantly to postural stability, functional independence, and efficient movement during daily activities. Balance refers to the ability to maintain the body’s center of gravity within its base of support, while agility is the ability to change direction quickly while maintaining body control and coordination. With advancing age, particularly during middle age (40–60 years), gradual neuromuscular changes such as reduced muscle strength, proprioception, and coordination may lead to decline in balance and agility performance. Despite evidence suggesting age-related deterioration in these physical parameters, limited research has focused specifically on the middle-aged population, as most studies emphasize either young adults or elderly individuals. Understanding the relationship between balance and agility in middle-aged adults is important for early identification of functional decline and for developing preventive physiotherapy interventions to reduce future risk of falls and mobility limitations. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the correlation between balance and agility performance among middle-aged adults aged 40–60 years. A total of 59 participants will be recruited using purposive sampling. Dynamic balance will be assessed using the Lower Quarter Y-Balance Test, and agility will be measured using the Agility T-Test. Three trials will be performed for each test, and the best or mean scores will be recorded as per protocol. Statistical analysis will be conducted using SPSS. Pearson’s or Spearman’s correlation test will be applied based on data normality, with the level of significance set at p < 0.05. The findings of this study may help in establishing evidence-based physiotherapy strategies aimed at maintaining functional fitness, enhancing neuromuscular coordination, and preventing early onset of mobility impairments in middle-aged adults.
