Brief Summary

Autism is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmentalcondition manifesting in early childhoo The abilities and needs of people with autismvary. While some can live independently , most of them will have severedisabilities and require lifelong care and support .According to WHO, it is anemerging global concern with 1 in 160 children diagnosed with autism. In India ,1 in every 88 children is diagnosed with Autism. Itis approximately four times more common in males than females.

Atpresent,no  medications are established  to  treat its core  symptoms. Risperidone and Aripiprazole arethe only FDA approved medications currently used, targetingthe irritability seen with this diagnosis. Moreover, Children and adolescentswith autism appear to be more susceptible to adverse effects with thesemedications. The line of treatment, commonly used are speechtherapy, psychotherapy, occupational therapy, behaviour training and dietarymodification. These treatments  are  time and staff  intensive.Becauseof all the above reasons, there is a need to find a new approach and modalityfor Autism . In Autism ,thebrain and components of the brain are affected .Available evidencesuggests that around 21-70% of children with autism have gastrointestinal symptoms. This attributes to theconcept of gut brain axis.

In *Ayurveda,* the exact correlation is not yet clearly identified.Autism can be understood under the concept of *Unmada*.A defective digestive and metabolicfunction is postulated as the root cause of *Unmada*

In this study, the drugs are takenfrom the *Aparajitha* yoga mentioned for*Sarva manoroga*, by *Acharya Sushrutha* [8].By virtue of the mode of action of *Nasya* , we can expect apositive effect on the brain. With this hypothesis, we are administering the *Jatamamsadi Taila Nasya* in this study.Inthis study we are administering  *Hinguvadi ghrita* orally  to address the gastrointestinal symptoms
