Inclusion Criteria

1. Preoperative presence of a deep carious lesion

2. Age group – 18 -30 years

3. Systemically healthy co-operative patient,

permanent molars with carious lesions

restricted to the occlusal and proximal surface

(radiographic)

4. Positive response to thermal and electric pulp

tests, responsive to cold test

5. No radiographic evidence of periapical

pathology (PAI Score = 2mm)

Exclusion Criteria

1. Continuous or spontaneous pain

2. Immunocompromised patient

3. Presence of a swelling or a sinus tract

adjacent to the tooth, tenderness on percussion

4. Presence of pathologic tooth mobility

5. Teeth with pulp necrosis

6. Presence of excessive haemorrhage from exposure

site indicating progressive inflammation or

requiring pulpotomy,

7. Radiolucency in periapical or furcation area

(PAI Score = 3mm)

8. External or internal resorption

9. Obliteration of canal.

10.In patient who are not willing to undergo

pulpotomy and would prefer pulpectomy
