• Adult women and men (=18 y)
• Informed consent as documented by signature
• Systemically healthy subjects
• At least one dental implant loaded by fixed single crowns or bridges (screwed or cemented) with mucositis in terms of a probing pocket depth between 3 an 5 and bleeding on probing
• Bone loss = 2mm as detectable on X-ray
• Ability to read and understand the patient information
• Patients with active periodontal pockets
• Pregnant or nursing women or women planning to have a child
• Patients with antibiotic therapy within the previous 6 months
• Patients with peri-implantitis therapy within the previous 3 months
• Subjects with an allergy to CHX
• Heavy smokers (=10 cigarettes per day)
• Anti-coagulated patients (exception: =100 mg/d acetylsalicylic acid)
• Removable prostheses attached on the affected implants
