Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. patients aged 60 and above who presented to the ED from February 2022 to November 2022 with diagnosis of isolated hip fracture including neck of femur, intertrochanter and subtrochanteric area.
  • 2\. Pain score of 5 or above from visual analog scale (VAS).

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\.hemodynamic instability (defined as systolic blood pressure \<90 or \>180 mmHg, heart rate \<50 or \>150 beats/min, or respiratory rate \<10 or \>30 breaths/min)
  • 2\.allergic to morphine and local anesthesia
  • 3\.skin infection at injection site
  • 4\.creatine clearance \< 50 ml/min
  • 5\.opioid use within 4 hours
  • 6\.communication deficits
  • 7\.body weight \<40 kg or \>115 kg
  • 8\.need immediate surgical intervention
  • 9\.traumatic brain injury
  • 10previous bypass surgery of affected limb
