Inclusion Criteria
1.Age group: 18 - 60 years
2. Physical status: ASA physical status 1-2
3. Undergoing thyroidectomy under GA with tracheal intubation.
Exclusion Criteria
Patients were excluded if
1. A history of pre-operative sore throat
2. upper respiratory tract infection
3. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
4. pregnant females
5. Mallampati grade >2
6. known allergies to study drug
7. those who required more than one attempt at intubation
