Inclusion Criteria

  • •1\.Age group: 18 \- 60 years
  • •2\. Physical status: ASA physical status 1\-2
  • •3\. Undergoing thyroidectomy under GA with tracheal intubation.

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Patients were excluded if
  • •1\. A history of pre\-operative sore throat
  • •2\. upper respiratory tract infection
  • •3\. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • •4\. pregnant females
  • •5\. Mallampati grade \>2
  • •6\. known allergies to study drug
  • •7\. those who required more than one attempt at intubation
