Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Age group: 18 \- 60 years
  • 2\. Physical status: ASA physical status 1\-2
  • 3\. Undergoing thyroidectomy under GA with tracheal intubation.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients were excluded if
  • 1\. A history of pre\-operative sore throat
  • 2\. upper respiratory tract infection
  • 3\. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • 4\. pregnant females
  • 5\. Mallampati grade \>2
  • 6\. known allergies to study drug
  • 7\. those who required more than one attempt at intubation
