Inclusion Criteria
age from 25 to 75 years, inpatient rehabilitation, patients with known diabetes mellitus type II
Exclusion Criteria
renal insufficiency Stadium III (Creatinine Clearance < 60 ml/min Cockcroft-Gault), acute inflammatory diseases (CRP cut off > 10 mg/l), operation or trauma < 6 weeks, myocardial infarction < 10 weeks, Pregnancy and lactation, alcohol or drugs

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Estimation of the AGE/sRAGE-ratio at baseline (T1) and the end (T2) of a 3-week lasting multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation. AGEs- and sRAGE-levels will determined by ELISA-technique with serum samples of the patients.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Investigation of routine parameters, peroxides, inflammatoric and oxidative markers (ELISA with serum samples), non invasive AGE measurements with fluorescence in the skin, as well as collection of anthropometric data at baseline (T1) and the end (T2) of the inpatient multidisciplinary rehabilitation.
