Inclusion Criteria
Persons with epilepsy (PWE) diagnosed clinically
Age more than 18 years, either male or female
PWE with either partial or generalized seizures
PWE on monotherapy of newer (e.g. levetiracetam) or conventional (e.g. valproate, carbamazepine, phenytoin) antiepileptic drugs
Exclusion Criteria
Persons not willing to give informed consent
Persons on AED polytherapy.
Persons having any psychiatric disorder
Persons having any other neurological or chronic disease except epilepsy

Name Time Method To compare the quality of life based on QOLIE-10-P scale during 6 months follow up between newer and conventional antiepileptic drugs administered as monotherapy to persons with epilepsy having partial and generalized seizures.Timepoint: 6 months follow up

Name Time Method To compare cost of treatment ( based on cost of drugs, efficacy, expense on laboratory investigations ,adverse drug effect, other quality of life parameters) during 6 months follow up between newer and conventional antiepileptic drugs administered as monotherapy to persons with epilepsy having partial and generalized seizures.Timepoint: 6 months follow up
