Inclusion criteria
1. Age < 84 months (7 years) of age
2. Complete medical records of admitted patients (Patient demographics, Consent to retrieve medical records, history of presenting complaints, antenatal history, past significant history, immunization history, treatment history, lab investigations - CBC, CRP, S. IL6 levels, S. GFAP level, Stool examination for rotaviral antigen, Stool Culture for aerobic and fungal pathogens and EEG)
3. Date of admission on or after July 1, 2021
4. Cases should be able to be classified into one of three categories -
a. Only Gastrointestinal complaints of Infectious etiology with stool positive for rotavirus antigen or positive stool culture for E coli (VTEC) or Shigella species.
b. Only Neurological conditions including but not limited to CNS infections, Uncontrolled Seizures, genetic epilepsy, head injury, encephalopathies, CNS autoimmune pathology such as Autoimmune encephalitis, Intra cranial hemorrhage, etc.
c. Non-gastrointestinal and non-Neurological conditions group including conditions such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, measles, dengue, malaria, enteric fever, etc.
1. Congenital malformations including Heart Malformations
2. Syndromic presentations
3. History of surgical intervention
4. Recurrent hospitalizations ( > 2 times/year)
5. On Oral/IV Antibiotics for more than 7 days before hospitalization
6. On Oral/IV steroids before hospitalization
7. Cases of Burns or Road traffic accidents
8. ICU stay > 12 days
9. Discharged against medical advise
10. Feeding difficulties
