Inclusion Criteria
All children between 6 months to 18 years of age admitted in Kasturba Hospital and diagnosed to have beta thalassemia major.
Exclusion Criteria
1. Known case of congenital thyroid disorders, congenital heart disease, chronic renal disease, chronic hepatic disease
2. Family history of premature atherosclerosis (onset of symptoms <60 years in female and <55 years in male)
3. Family history of hypercholesterolemia
4. Children with BMI > 95th percentile
5. Children with hypertension according to age, sex and height
