1. Household contact that has been roommate of eligible index case for at
least two of the previous four months (See index case criteria below).
2. HIV seronegative
3. Willing to be tested for pregnancy
4. Age 18-55 years
5. Willingness by the patient to attend scheduled follow-up visits and undergo
study assessments
6. Able to provide informed consent
1. In the teamâ??s judgement, individual is not expected to survive for 12
months
2. HIV infection or not willing to undergo HIV testing (if no documented HIV
test)
3. Pregnant at enrollment
4. Known diabetes mellitus or evidence of diabetes on HA1C
5. Xpert positive among those able to produce sputum
6. TB symptoms (night sweats, weight loss, cough)
7. Any history of TB disease during their lifetime
8. We will retrospectively exclude household contacts of presumed TB cases
whose cultures do not confirm Mtb or who are Xpert negative.
9. Recall receiving anti-parasitic treatment within the past 6 months
10. Evidence of kwashiorkor (pitting edema of foot or lower leg)
11. Abnormal K, Mg, Phos in those with BMI <16
