1. Age range: 18-65 years both male and female patients.
2. Undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG) using the saphenous vein.
3.Undergoing cardiac valvular surgeries like aortic valve, mitral valve, combined valve surgeries (both aortic and mitral valve) with or without tricuspid annuloplasty.
4.Combined coronary artery and valve surgery.
5.American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status I, II & III.
1.Patients undergoing CABG by the separation of the internal mammary artery (IMA)
2.Patients with the history of analgesic addiction or drug abuse
3.Patients with pre-existing pain syndrome
4.Patients undergoing redo surgery or surgical re-exploration during the study period
5.Patients who received repeated revisions due to infection
6.Patients with intensive care unit stay of more than 7 days due to respiratory complications and wound infection
7.Postoperative wound infection.
8.Patients with neurological pathologies
9.Patients treated with antidepressant medication
10.Severe cardiovascular dysfunction(New York Heart Association class III or IV
11.Severe pulmonary, renal and hepatic disease
12.Inability to communicate and understand NRS( numerical rating scale)
13.Patients not willing to participate in the study
14.Patients unwilling to cooperate or will be unreachable for phone interviews will also be excluded.
