Appropriate for gestational age neonates weighing 1000gms to 1499 gms
1.Major congenital malformations including chromosomal anomalies and inborn errors of metabolism.
2.Multiple pregnancy.
3.Maternal blood aspiration syndrome.
4.Gastrointestinal surgical illnesses : Congenital diaphragmatic hernia, anorectal atresia, pyloric stenosis, tracheo-oesophageal fistula.
5.Sepsis , acute renal failure, shock with multiple organ dysfunction, anemia or polycythemia at the time of enrolment.
6.Severe birth asphyxia (apgar score <3 at 1min), respiratory distress (Silverman Anderson score >6 at the time of enrolment), requirement of mechanical ventilation.
7.Absent or Reversed end diastolic flow in umbilical artery as detected by ante-natal ultrasonography.
8. Infant born to mothers having diabetes/Kochâ??s/chicken pox/HIV/Hepatitis C.
