1)Age =18 years, = 80 years
2)Atrial fibrillation, paroxysmal or persistent ( < 1 year in duration) which documented on the electrocardiography (12-lead electrocardiography, holter monitoring, or telemetry monitoring)
3)Refractory or intolerant to class I or III antiarrhythmic drug(s)
4) providing informed consent to radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation
1) Atrial fibrillation from transient reversible cause
2) Coagulopathy
3) Pregnancy
4) Longstanding persistent atrial fibrillation ( >1 year)
5) Atypical atrial flutter
6) Prior catheter or surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation
7) Prior open heart surgery from any cause
8) Acute myocardial infarction, percutaneous coronary intervention, or coronary artery bypas grafting within 3 months
9) mitral or aortic valvular heart disease more than moderate degree
10) Large left atrial size (anterior-posterior diameter more than 50mm)
11) Presence of thrombus in left atrium or appendage
12) Significant hematologic disorder (leukocyte count < 3000/mm3, or thrombocytopenia < 100,000/mm3)
13) Significant liver dysfunction
14) Significant renal dysfunction
15) Contraindications to the anticoagulation
16) Left ventricular ejection fraction less than 45%
17) A patient who currently enrolled in other randomized clinical study (except registry)
18) A patient with other significant comorbidity whom is deemed not suitable to participate in the current study
