Inclusion Criteria
All ventilated children aged from 1 month to 18 years admit in PICU who :-
1. have conserved gastrointestinal function
2. require >72 hours of ventilation
3. were initiated enteral nutrition within the first 48 hours of PICU admission
4. gave consent for participation in the study.
Exclusion Criteria
1.Primary gastrointestinal pathology or surgery;
2. Those with percutaneous gastrostomy tubes, intestinal fistula,
obstruction, necrosis, peritonitis .
3. EN not started within 48 hours, or EN started prior to PICU admission;
4. Death or discharge before 72 hours of observation;
5. Contraindication to enteral diet;
6. Intolerance to the prescribed nutrients or infusion regimen.
