Adult women aged 20 to 55 years; excess body fat (equal or greater than 32%) and high waist circumference (equal or greater than 80 cm); overweight (BMI equal or greater than 27 kg/m2) associated with at least one more component of the Metabolic Syndrome, which means triglycerides equal or greater than 150 mg/dL, blood pressure equal or greater than 130 and/or 85 mmHg for systolic and diastolic pressures, respectively, or fasting glucose equal or greater than 100 mg / dL) or; obesity (BMI equal or greater than 30 kg/m2) regardless of the presence of the other components of the Metabolic Syndrome
Women younger than 20 years or older than 55 years; body fat percentage less than 32%; waist circumference less than 80 cm; BMI below 27 kg/m²; BMI between 27 and 30 kg/m², without the presence of any other component of metabolic synddrome, pregnant women, nursing mothers, or menopausal women; athletes; smokers; with a history of HIV, digestive alterations, hepatic or renal diseases, cardiovascular diseases, hypo or hyerthyroidism, cancer, inflammatory diseases and eating disorders; history of drug and/or alcohol abuse; aversion or allergy to nuts; infectious episode in the last month; use of anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, antibiotics and others that can affect appetite and energy metabolism; weight instability (5% of usual weight) in the last 3 months; daily consumption of nuts (greater than 5g for Brazil nuts and greater than 30 g/day for other nuts); alcohol consumption higher than 21 units (168g) per week; dental problems that interfere with chewing; consumption of vitamin, mineral and omega 3 supplements in tha last three months.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Reduction in body weight and waist circumference by at least 5%, compared to control (hypocaloric diet free of nuts).<br>All analyzes will be performed at the end of the study.
