Phase 1: Healthy subjects (N=5)
Phase 2: COVID-19 pneumonia with respiratory failure (PF ratio 150-300 or SpO2 <90-94% while using conventional oxygen therapy) for at least 2 hours or met other criteria to use HFNC (N=10)
Phase 1: 1. underlying significant cardiopulmonary disease
2. unable to communicate
Phase 2: 1. signs of respiratory failure (RR>40) or use accessory muscles
2. met criteria for intubation including PF ratio<50, unable to protect airway, mental status change, unstable hemodynamic, reduction in glasgow coma scale<10
