Patients with aortic valve replacement:
- Written informed consent by the study participant
- Age = 18 years
- Planned aortic valve replacement in the cardiology or cardiosurgery clinic of Heidelberg University Hospital
Healthy subjects:
- Written informed consent by the study participant
- Age = 18 years
Exclusion criteria common to all study groups:
- Failure to meet inclusion criteria.
- Infectious viral diseases (HBV, HCV, HIV, COVID-19) or unknown COVID-19 status.
- Refusal to participate in the study
- Pre-existing severe renal insufficiency with a glomerular (GFR) <15 ml/min/m2 or need for dialysis
