Inclusion Criteria

All patients referred to ECT from any adult psychiatry unit, NIMHANS, Bangalore

Exclusion Criteria

ECT received within the last 3 months, Patients with intellectual disability or neurological illness such as epilepsy, head injury, or dementia, patients with a diagnosis of substance induced disorder (excluding nicotine use disorder)

To assess the effects of concurrent yoga and ECT on verbal memory (delayed recall) and autobiographical memory, over ECT alone in patients with major mental illnessesTimepoint: To assess the effects of concurrent yoga and ECT on verbal memory (delayed recall) and autobiographical memory after 3rd ECT(generally after one week of starting ECT), 6th ECT(generally after two weeks of starting ECT) and 9th ECT (generally after three weeks of starting ECT) as well as at the completion of ECT course (generally within four weeks of starting ECT).
