Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •patients aged \= 65 years who were classified as American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I or II and scheduled to undergo elective laparoscopic or open gastrectomy for gastric cancer
Exclusion Criteria
- •: patients taking sedatives or psychotic drugs
- •: patients with dementia, or central nervous diseases or psychiatric diseases with cognitive impairments
- •: patients with a condition preventing proper evaluation of cognitive
- •functions such as speech and auditory impairment
- •: patients with a preoperative Mini\-Mental State Exam score \= 23
- •: patients undergoing a combined operation other than gastrectomy
