Patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus for past 10 years or less and on stable treatment for past 3 months, and taking metformin or sulphonylurea or both.
1)Liver dysfunction (AST,ALT > 1.5 times the upper limit of normal)
2)Renal dysfunction (Serum creatinine, blood urea > 1.5 times the upper limit of normal)
3)Patient with concurrent illnesses other than hypertension
4)Patients taking enzyme inducers or inhibitors
5)Patients already taking vitamin D supplements
6)Pregnant and lactating woman
7)Severe uncontrolled hypertension ( >160/90 mm Hg)
8)Smokers
9)Patients who had participated in other trials within last 3 months
