Inclusion Criteria
All adult patients who are scheduled for mediastinoscopy or oesophagectomy
Exclusion Criteria
1.Infections or deformity of anterior neck
2.Unable to give valid consent
3.Anatomically deformity of nose or mouth making passage of fibrescope difficult
4.History of sensitivity to local anaesthetics or xylometazoline
5.Poorly controlled hypertensive patients
6.Pregnancy
7.Patient unable to understand Hindi, English or Marathi
8.Lower esophagectomy surgery by thoracoabdominal approach
