Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
self-rated pain measured with the Numerical Pain Rating Scale[immediately before program, at 20 minutes into the program and immediately after completing each exercise program];heart rate measured with a Polar Heart Rate Monitor[immediately before, at 5 minute intervals during the program and again immediately after completing each exercise program]
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
Peripheral oxyhaemoglobin saturation using a fingertip pulse oximeter[immediately before program, at 20 minutes into the program and immediately after completing each exercise program];Systolic, diastolic and mean arterial blood pressure measured using a digital wrist blood pressure monitor[immediately before program, at 20 minutes into the program and immediately after completing each exercise program];temperature measured using an infra-red digital tympanic thermometer[immediately before program, at 20 minutes into the program and immediately after completing each exercise program];self-rated effort of each program measured using Borg's Perceived Rate of Exertion scale[immediately after the completion of each program];subjective perception of benefit of early aquatic physiotherapy, using 0 to 10 scale and three yes/no questions[at completion of final exercise program]
