Inclusion Criteria

pregnant female patients, taken up for cesarean section under spinal anaesthesia for various indications (elective or semi-elective) like previous cesarean section, breech, oligo-hydroamnios, cephalopelvic disproportion, pregnancy following infertility treatment, postdatism, cord around neck, non-progress of labour

Exclusion Criteria

1.Emergency indication of cesarean section like antepartum hemorrhage, placenta previa, abruptio placentae, fetal distress, obstructed labour, umbilical cord prolapse, hand prolapse, or patient in labor pains.

2.Patients having coagulation abnormalities or on anticoagulants.

3. Patients having associated systemic illness (hypo/ hyperthyroidism, diabetic, neuromuscular diseases, ischemic/ valvular/ congenital heart diseases, psychiatric, hematological disorder).

4.Patients having contraindications for spinal anesthesia.

5.History of seizures, coma, neurological signs or symptoms (Eclampsia).

6.Patient refusal to participate in study.

7.Any allergy to local anaesthetic.

8.Obese (weight > 100 Kg), short stature (height < 150cm), with spinal deformity.
