Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • pregnant female patients, taken up for cesarean section under spinal anaesthesia for various indications (elective or semi\-elective) like previous cesarean section, breech, oligo\-hydroamnios, cephalopelvic disproportion, pregnancy following infertility treatment, postdatism, cord around neck, non\-progress of labour

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Emergency indication of cesarean section like antepartum hemorrhage, placenta previa, abruptio placentae, fetal distress, obstructed labour, umbilical cord prolapse, hand prolapse, or patient in labor pains.
  • 2\.Patients having coagulation abnormalities or on anticoagulants.
  • 3\. Patients having associated systemic illness (hypo/ hyperthyroidism, diabetic, neuromuscular diseases, ischemic/ valvular/ congenital heart diseases, psychiatric, hematological disorder).
  • 4\.Patients having contraindications for spinal anesthesia.
  • 5\.History of seizures, coma, neurological signs or symptoms (Eclampsia).
  • 6\.Patient refusal to participate in study.
  • 7\.Any allergy to local anaesthetic.
  • 8\.Obese (weight \> 100 Kg), short stature (height \< 150cm), with spinal deformity.
