For patients undergoing surgeries of arm and shoulder we will use regional anesthesia using ultrasound and study the effect of two local anesthestic agents (bupivacaine and ropivacaine) along with magnesium sulphate.

ASA class I-II.
Undergoing surgeries of shoulder and arm.
Patients refusal for block.
Severe pulmonary disease or contralateral phrenic nerve palsy.
History of cardiac , renal or hepatic disease , CNS disorders, neuropathy.
Chronic treatment with calcium channel blockers.
Patients having bleeding disorders.
Hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics.
Local infection at the site where needle for block is to be inserted.
Forearm and hand surgery.
Allergic to study drugs.
Patients in whom the block effect will be partial and will require supplementary anesthesia.
