Patients of either sex aged 18-60 yr, ASA grade I, II posted for cervical spine fixation(elective) surgery under general anaesthesia (GA)
a. Unwilling and uncooperative patient.
b. Patient with severe respiratory, cardiovascular, renal diseases.
c. Haemodynamically unstable patient.
d. ASA grade III and IV.
e. Patients on medication like ACE inhibitor, alpha- antagonist and long term use of benzodiazepine and tricyclic antidepressant.
f. Comatose patient.
g. Patient requiring emergency cervical spine surgery.
h. Any type of A-V block, severe bradycardia.
