Patients aged 18 to 60 years posted for elective lumbar spine surgery
Patients undergoing 3 or less levels of laminectomy and fixation
American Society of Anaesthesiology (ASA) physical status 1 and 2
Patient refusal for the study
Duration of surgery extending to more than 4 hours.
Has any known allergy or contraindication to dexamethasone
Has received chronic steroid or opioids
Has uncontrolled diabetic mellitus , had previous lumbar spine surgery, hepatic or renal impairment.
Pregnant or lactating female

Name Time Method To compare & determine the postoperative analgesic efficacy of two different doses of dexamethasone administered preemptively by Visual analogue scale(VAS) in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgeries. <br/ ><br>Timepoint: every 6th hourly uptil 48th hour
