Inclusion Criteria
Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
On metformin therapy (>=1000 mg/ day) atleast for the past 3 months and not exceeding 5 years
Exclusion Criteria
- Patients with renal and liver diseases
- Pregnant and lactating women
- Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus
- Patients on proton pump inhibitors, H2 blockers or antacids for the past 12 months
- Patients on multivitamin or calcium supplementation for the past 3 months
- Strict vegetarians
