Group 1 Patients with clinically healthy periodontium GI-0, PD less than or equal to 3mm and CAL- 0 with no evidence of bone loss, HbA1c levels less than 6.5 % and RBS levels less than 160 mg/dl
Group II Generalized moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients with GI greater than or equal to 1, greater than 30% of sites having PPD of greater than or equal to 5mm, positive BOP and CAL of greater than or equal to 5mm with radiographic evidence of bone loss, HbA1c levels less than 6.5 % and RBS levels less than 160 mg/dl
Group III Generalized moderate to severe chronic periodontitis with Type 2 DM patients with GI score greater than 1, greater than 30% of sites having PPD of greater than or equal to 5mm, positive BOP and CAL of greater than or equal to 5mm with radiographic evidence of bone loss, HbA1c levels between 6.5- 8 % and RBS levels greater than 160 mg/dl
Medical disorders such as cardiovascular or renal disease
Malignancies, multiple sclerosis and
Tobacco chewers and smokers
Pregnant, post-menopausal and lactating females
No history of antibiotic intake within 6 weeks
No history of any periodontal therapy within 6 months
