Inclusion Criteria
1. aged greater than or equal to 18 years old
2. had a single radio-opaque renal calculi or proximal ureteric calculi less than 2 cm in size
Exclusion Criteria
1. pregnancy
2. coagulopathy
3. untreated urinary tract infection
4. aortic aneurysm
5. severe untreated hypertension
6. morbid obesity (body mass index over 40 kg/m2)
7. kidney anomalies
8. ureteral stenting
9. incontinence.
