Inclusion Criteria
need for appendectomy
-capacity to consent
-BMI<30
-ASA I-II
Exclusion Criteria
-Pregnancy
-Prior abdominal operations
-Peptic ulcers
-Immunosuppression, HIV
-Cirrhosis of the liver, portal hypertension
-coagulation disorders
-suspected tumor
-sepsis with organ failure
-sonographic or clinical suspicion of a perforation
-esophageal stenosis

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method The health related quality of life wil be measured preoperatively, 1.-3. day and 6 weeks postoperatively with the Short Form 8 questionnaire.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Complaints and the health related trend will be recorded with the following questions:<br><br>Preoperatively: <br>- Analogue Visual Scale (AS) for pain<br><br>Postoperatively (1.-3.day postoperatively): <br>- Analogue Visual Scale (AS) for pain<br>- After how many days were you able to eat again?<br>- Have you been to the toilet (bowel movement), yet? If so after how many days?<br>- Was you stool unusual?<br>- How many days have past since you have been operated on?<br><br>Postoperatively (6 weeks):<br>- After how many days were you able to work/go to school again?<br>- Have been to the doctor since you have been operated on?<br>- If so have you had one or more of the following symptoms:<br>- Belly pain, hypersensible belly, fever, nausea, vomiting, exhaustion, constipation, diarrhea, infected wound from the operation, problems while urinating, strong back pain<br>- Would you undergo this procedure again if you had an appendicitis?<br>
