1. Lumbar herniated intervertebral disc or spinal stenosis diagnosed by CT or MRI
2. Low back pain of at least 6-month duration
3. Aged 20–70 years
4. Ability to comprehend or express him/herself in the Korean language
5. Follow-up possible during the clinical trial
1. Side effect and hypersensitive reaction to acupuncture treatment
2. Cauda equina syndrome, persistently exacerbated symptoms, progressive neurologic signs (i.e., sensory or motor changes)
3. Previous spine surgery
4. Neuromuscular scoliosis, neurodegenerative disease
5. Pregnancy, lactation, or planned pregnancy
6. Senile dementia, impaired cognitive function or other cerebral disease, severe psychiatric or psychological disorders
7. Refusal to participate in the trial or provide informed consent
8. Alcohol/drug abuse
9. Abnormal finding on renal or hepatic function blood test
10. Individual deemed ineligible by the recruiting physician.
11. Anticoagulant medication
12. Subject inserting pacemaker
