Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Adult patients (\>\= 18 years) of
- •either sex undergoing
- •emergency laparotomy for
- •major abdominal surgery,
- •requiring general anaesthesia.
- •Informed written consent.
Exclusion Criteria
- •Preoperative requirement of
- •mechanical ventilation.
- •Preoperative room air
- •oximetry SaO2 \<90%, or PaO2
- •Patient requiring high dose of
- •vasopressor support
- •(Norepinephrine equivalent \>
- •0\.2 mcg/ kg /min).
- •ASA 5 patients, not expected
- •to live beyond 24 hours.
