Patients aged between 30 and 70 years old; diagnosis of severe generalized chronic periodontitis; heavy smokers (more than 10 cigarettes per day for more than 5 years) and at least 15 teeth in mouth, excluding third molars.
Medical disorders that require antibiotic prophylaxis or who could influence the response of the treatment; having received treatment for periodontal scaling and root planing in the last 6 months; having consumed drugs that affect the periodontal tissues in the last 6 months (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, anticonvulsants, immunosuppressants or calcium channel blockers); pregnancy; prosthetic rehabilitations extensive carrier; in orthodontic treatment; patients with metabolic disorders such as diabetes; immune disorders; alcohol and illicit drug use.

Name Time Method Clinical attachment gain, within 6 months, this was verified by periodontal probing with clinical insertion level and data tabulation for mean reduction analysis of at least 1mm.
