Relationship between Imbalance of Trunk Muscle Activity, Spinal Alignment and Low Back Pain

A total of 27 normal healthy individuals (n=27) were enrolled in the current study; they consist of 11 men and 16 women, whose mean age was 26.48?7.35 (range, 18-45) years old. There was a significant difference in the activity of all the trunk muscles between the side of the weight-bearing limb and its opposite side (P<0.05). In the patients with sway back posture, the RA and EO had a higher level of activity in the stance and swing phase as compared with neutral gait (P<0.05). Moreover, in the patients with thoracic kyphosis posture, the LE and LM had a higher level of activity as compared with neutral gait (P<0.05).
