Inclusion Criteria

1. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) I/II. 2. Elective thoracolumbar spinal fusion surgery. 3. Patients giving written informed consent for study.

Exclusion Criteria

1. Known allergy to study drugs.

2. Presence of severe uncontrolled renal, liver, cerebrovascular or cardiovascular disease.

3. Chronic beta blocker treatment with heart rate or preoperative HR < 50/min.

4. Patients with psychiatric illness, low GCS ( <13/15) or those unable to understand pain scores.
