As per Definition of Type 2 Respiratory Failure
•pH < 7.35
•Hypoxia- PaO2 <60 MM OF HG
•Hypercapnia- PaC02 > 45 MM OF HG
•RR >30/min or <12/min
•Patients with type 2 respiratory failure started on NIV as per physicianâ??s decision are also included in the study.
•Hemodynamic and cardiac instability
(Hypotension BP <90/60 mm Hg,Unstable angina, MI ,arrythmia )
•Pneumothorax
•Need for intubation to protect airways
•Impending respiratory arrest
•Facial deformity/trauma
•Hypersensitivity to mask material
•Claustrophobia
•Upper airway obstruction
•Severe GI bleed
